Piki Te Ora Medical Centre

Piki Te Ora is provided by Union and Community Health Service (UCHC).

It is a community owned primary health care service which was established in 1989. The founding members, a group of Trade Unions, saw the need for greater affordability and accessibility to primary health care for ordinary working New Zealanders.

The continued vision and sense of social justice of these founding members enabled UCHC to alter its constitution in the mid 1990’s, so that an increasingly diverse rang of people were able to access the service.

Governance Board

We have a board of 12 people made up of founding union members, patient representatives, Māori representatives and community representatives. This board provides guidance to our centre and board members are elected each year at our annual general meeting in October.

Te Tiriti O Waitangi

UCHC actively honours the unique partnership between The Crown and the Tangata Whenua. We believe all people in New Zealand benefit when Māori and Pakeha work together to enhance Māori health, education and economic status.
